A man who contaminated treats with tranquilliser and distributed them to youngsters at a youth camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two young males aged nine and ten years old.

The accused was taken into custody after eight children and a grown-up experienced illness at the location in mid-summer.

The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he denied a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was involving a young boy.

The accused was held in detention before a further hearing on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

The prosecutor, presenting evidence, outlined Ruben's offending to the court.

She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a youth camp which he managed.

The defendant played a "candy game" with the children, the legal counsel said, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and request they to ingest treats "rapidly".

She informed the proceedings the defendant had played this game with the children "over an extended period", and minors had previously fallen ill the following morning.

She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had worries in recently.

The legal representative continued: "Recently" his family member had worries about what was going on, justifiably.

"They chose" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."

Mrs Prior KC explained items including baby oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were found, and his stepchild alerted the law enforcement about his worries.

She stated the defendant went on to engage in the "candy game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.

"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that stage," she added.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.

The prosecutor explained the children were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the stepson called the police a second time.

She explained the defendant then conducted the "sweet game" in a space of five youngsters.
