Police stated they were contacted by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Roughly fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.

Police then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the fluid was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the event," they added.

Local authorities said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.

A senior official commented the incident rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
